Mission Sunday

Lawrence with some young visitors

Fr George Camilleri talks about the Maltese Jesuits who established the Santal Missions in India

The Pontifical Mission Societies Office in Malta once again organised a family festival at Ta' Qali National Park today, Sunday 23rd October, an annual event marking Mission Sunday.

The Jesuits had an exhibition stand there, displaying the various ways in which Jesuits and lay collaborators in mission offer their services in developing countries. Fr George Camilleri Sj, who spent the larger part of his missionary life in India, was present all day, and this morning Lawrence Bellizzi, who spent a good number of months doing voluntary work with Jesuits in Egypt, joined him. Lawrence was sent to Egypt thanks to a project organised by inYgo (Ignatian Youth Network) and part-financed by the EU's Youth in Action Programme.

The event included exhibition stands by several other missionary organisations, as well as entertainment for all the family, food and a shop selling 'international' items, raising funds to be distributed by the Pontifical Mission Societies Office.
