Public Lecture - "Four Turning Points in Jesuit History"

  The Jesuits in Malta invite you to a Public Lecture on "Four Turning Points in Jesuit History"
Presented by Prof. Paul Shore
Venue: Sixth Form Auditorium, St Aloysius College, B’Kara
Date: Monday 11th April at 7.00pm
The Four Turning Points will touch upon: 
(a) Ignatius hanging up his sword on an altar to the Virgin and commencing his "pilgrim's journey" 
(b) The Chinese Rites controversy and the attack on Jesuit flexibility and outreach to non-Europeans 
(c) The resurrection of the SJ in 1814 and its efforts to adapt its previously baroque culture to the 19th cen. Romanticism, nationalism, etc. 
(d) Some of the writings of Karl Rahner and the intellectual climate that led to Vatican II and the transformation of the SJ into its present form(s).
